We are currently looking for permanent and locum Emergency physicians with CCFP-EM certification to join our staff. We would consider physicians without CCFP-EM designation who have appropriate experience. There are opportunities for physicians who want to work exclusively in the ER, as well as those who want to combine ER work with hospitalist work or clinical practice.
Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife, NWT
Stanton is the referral hospital for emergent cases throughout the Northwest Territories and the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut. This gives our Emergency Department a total catchment of 50,000 people covering 15% of Canada’s total land area! It is a busy single coverage department, with about 18,000 patient visits per year. There are several local specialists that support the ER, with 24/7 coverage from Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Obs/Gyn, and Radiology.
Patients are flown to Stanton from the communities or flown out of Stanton to Edmonton for treatment not available by our resident Specialists. The Emergency Department also provides virtual assistance to the Community Health Nurses of the surrounding communities via TeleHealth. With the assistance of Cultural Liaisons available at the Stanton Territorial Hospital we are able to provide culturally appropriate and medically necessary care to our entire population, no matter the language they speak.
Inuvik Regional Hospital In Inuvik, NWT
We are seeking locum & permanent physicians. As a Family Physician, you'll be based at the Inuvik Regional Hospital, the northernmost hospital with an operating room on the continent. This 48-bed facility, including long-term care, boasts a 14-bed acute care unit with two labor and delivery rooms.
Inuvik regularly host visiting specialists from Yellowknife and Edmonton, covering a wide array of specialties such as Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, ENT, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and more.
The Beaufort-Delta Region, home to the northern-most communities in the Northwest Territories, offers a unique experience above the Arctic Circle, renowned for wildlife sightings like polar bears, reindeer, muskoxen, and caribou. With its breathtaking landscape and popular activities such as dipping in the Arctic Ocean and exploring the unique pingos, this region promises unparalleled adventures. Many communities in the area are accessible by road, ensuring access to a full range of essential services.
PAY INFO:
Permanent: Annual Salary, including benefits, plus bonuses of $25,000 - $100,000 (In effect April 1, 2025). Our benefits include extended health and dental, a generous pension plan, outstanding leave benefits, relocation assistance, and paid professional development opportunities and education support. Our graduate physicians are also typically eligible for student loan forgiveness through Canada’s Loan Forgiveness program.
Locum: Locums are scheduled for 6 days to 1-year!.

Additional recurring locum incentive of $20,000 for working 75 shifts during the 2025-2026 fiscal year!
